Finding a Device
Notecards Desktop will simulate a mobile device on your local network. To share stacks between your computer and your mobile device make sure they are both on the same local network. Also ensure that the mobile device is currently in sharing mode (See our Notecards help pages for more information on setting up sharing on your device). Then select "Devices" from the toolbar or the "View" menu and a drawer will come out showing all of the other devices on your network that are currently attempting to share. You can then select the device from the list or select the computer from your mobile device to connect.
Sending a Stack
Once you have made a connection you can send a stack to your device by selecting it from the list and selecting "Send Stack" from the toolbar or from the "File" menu. You can also send a stack from your mobile device to your computer (See our Notecards help pages for more information on setting up sharing on your device).
Creating Your Own Network
If you do not have access to a local wifi network you may still share your cards by following these steps to create your own network from any Apple computer with a wifi card. Note: For most reliable performance: unplug your computer from any other internet source.
- Select the Airport status menu in the upper right of your computer.
- Select "Create Network.."
- Enter a name and setup a password if you wish. Then press OK.
- Put your mobile device into airplane mode (this ensures that it does not try to use the mobile internet).
- Turn your mobile device's wifi back on (leaving it in airplane mode) and join the network that you just created.5>
You can then share your cards just as if you were on any other local network
